A fleet of 26 buses of State transport department worth around Rs 4 crore are left stationary at Naya More depot in Bokaro Steel City, causing loss to the Government in crores. Now turned into scarps the parts of the vehicles have been stolen largely leaving behind just rusted chassis. The depot of the Corporation is spread over in 10 acres of land at Naya More.

"The alienated attitude of government officials pushed the government to the loss in crores. An auction proposal for a dozen old buses was sent to the state transport headquarters in Ranchi in the year 2011-12 but could not get the department node on time. later in 2014 auction of 12 buses were fixed in Rs23 lakh officially, but tender did not published,” said a district transport department official.

At that time two of them were leased out to Bokaro Steel Plant to ferry its employees while two others in good running conditions scheduled officially for auction in Rs3 lakh and 1.8 lakh. Each was plying between the Bokaro Steel city and Jamshedpur and Sheikhpura (Bihar), he said.

After the state transport authority parted with its parent body in Bihar in 2009, Bokaro received a fleet of 32 buses and now all were grounded. No initiation has been taken by the official, alleged nearby shopkeepers who are running their shops since past 50 years
