With the objective to grab the attention of civic body towards the burning problems of the city, members of Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FJCCI) met Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) CEO Manoj Kumar on Saturday. They complained about the haphazard nature of State capital’s drainage system which becomes apparent even at a brief spell of rain and rapid placement of hoardings at the heart of the city is adding to traffic congestion.
FJCCI president Bikash Kumar Singh said, “From the past few years we have been consistently raising the voice demanding proper drainage system in the city but to no avail. This time we have strongly placed our demands and have asked them wider the drains of main road before onset of monsoon season.”
Besides, the FJCCI members also demanded to take a concrete action regarding monopole hoardings which have come across 48 points of the State capital. Huge advertisements propped up at single poles are obstructing the views of vehicles and pedestrians. The traffic police also believe that these hoardings poles will lead to serious accident.
“The sudden mushrooming of hoardings in the city is blocking the view of the road ahead creating distraction for the drivers. The big hoarding on Main Road atop the 140 feet pole is creating difficulties for the drivers and commuters to see the roads ahead properly. In such a situation possibility of accident is more. The need of the hour is to look into the matter seriously and take concrete action in this direction,” added Singh.
Meanwhile, RMC CEO Manoj Kumar has assured to extend all possible help and come up with strong step soon. “A team from RMC along with engineers will conduct an inspection of the drains on Tuesday and their next move will be decided,” said Kumar. However on the matter of monopole hoarding he added, “The matter is in our mind and we will look into it.”
