Due to the re-passing of the Agriculture Fee Bill in the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly the situation of confusion is prevailing among traders despite the assurance of the Minister. The traders of all the districts of the State, on Thursday, met former Deputy Mayor, Ajaynath Shahdev, President of Professional Congress, Aditya at Chamber Bhavan in the State Capital.
Jaiswal and the State Congress Committee, Secretary General, Sanjay Pandey discussed on the issue in detail with the traders. They discussed the impracticality of the bill and the difficulties it would cause.
During the meeting the traders said that this bill is going to block the development of farmers, consumers and processing industry and this will make food items costlier. President of Ranchi Chamber Pandra, Sanjay Mahuri informed about the specifics of the bill and said that due to payment of agricultural duty on agricultural produce in Jharkhand, there will be a huge reduction in the production of agricultural produce which will lead to loss of livelihood of farmers.
“They will get a lower price for their produce as local demand for the produce declines. At the same time, the loss to the government will be much more in the form of reduction in the amount (revenue) received from GST than the amount received from agriculture fee,” said Mahuri.
After deep discussions, the visitors accepted the views of the traders and agreed that it is not appropriate to implement agriculture fee in Jharkhand and they will hold talks with the State Government for this. Former Deputy Mayor, Ajaynath Shahdev said that this bill is not acceptable under any circumstances. He assured that he will walk step by step with the Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce for the completion of this bill.
