A delegation of the Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce, under the leadership of President Kishor Mantri, met Governor Ramesh Bais in view of the confusion arising between traders and farmers due to the decision to implement the Agricultural Duty Bill in Jharkhand. While handing over a memorandum to the Governor mentioning the impracticalities of the Agricultural Duty Bill, everything was explained in detail as to how the business and farmers of the state would be affected by the effect of the Bill. It was told how in view of its impracticalities, the fee was reduced to zero in the year 2015, which was in the interest of the farmers and traders of Jharkhand. With the return of duty through this bill, irregularities will increase again and the problems of the past will come back again.
The delegation said that mostly only imported goods are traded in Jharkhand. Due to the coming of such items in the agricultural fee, it is not a fee for any marketing system, but a straight tax, which will be double taxation in addition to GST. By imposing agricultural duty in the maximum slab on imported goods from other states, on which the market committee has not provided any facility, it is directly going to increase inflation on the common consumer. It was urged that while reconsidering, initiative should be taken to abolish this bill completely in the interest of farmers and business of the state.
Governor Ramesh Bais listened carefully to all the issues of the delegation. Chamber President Kishor Mantri, Vice President Aditya Malhotra, General Secretary Dr. Abhishek Ramadhin, former President Praveen Jain Chhabda, Ranchi Chamber Pandra President Sanjay Mahuri were included in the delegation.
