Ranchi Police on Tuesday arrested five youths while they were making a plan to rob a pharmacist at Main Road here. Police said that these five criminals were making plans to execute their plan of loot and kill the pharmacist on the lines of a recent Hindi Movie Shootout at Wadala.

“Inspired by a Hindi action movie, all these five youths were conspiring to loot a wholesale Pharmacist at Main Road at the behest of a criminal, Nikki Sharma, who is currently lodged in Birsa Munda Central Jail in Ranchi,” said City SP Kishore Kaushal. Nikki Sharma asked his brother Bittu Sharma to make a plan of robbing the wholesale pharmacist, added the City SP.

Bittu Sharma chose Arvind lohra alias Charka, Danish Khan, Akash Badaik and Sumit linda alias Chotu. All these five youths were to execute their plan on Monday, but due to alertness of the Police, they were arrested in between.

Except Sumit linda, other four youths — Arvind lohra, Danish Khan, Bittu Sharma and Akash Badaik have serious criminal charges against them and have also been to jail in different cases, said the police.

The police have also recovered three scooty, one revolver, one country made pistol, seven live cartridges and five mobile phones from their possession.

“Acting on a tipoff from CID that some criminals near Khelgaon in Ranchi were planning to rob a businessman, SSP Kuldeep Dwivedi constituted a special action team, which, coming into action soon, started checking vehicles near Kala Kendra in Khelgaon and spotted these people coming on three bikes. They started running away after looking at the police,” said the City SP.

After being caught by the police, they confessed that they were planning to loot a city-based wholesale Pharmacist at the behest of a criminal Nikki Sharma who was currently lodged in jail. They were going to meet him in jail when they were caught by the police.

Bittu Sharma also confessed that he has already worked with the wholesale Pharmacist whom he was going to loot and was quite aware the exact time when the cash was transferred and where it was deposited.
