Five new divisional level offices for Vigilance Bureau

The State Vigilance department will soon have five functional divisional level offices to ‘expedite the process of vigilance’.  The decision was taken in a review meeting by Chief Secretary RS Sharma on Friday, who directed the officials of the department to inaugurate the offices at the earliest.

“The Government is serious about the corruption cases. Chief Minister Hemant Soren has given direction to curb corruption. We need to make the vigilance department more powerful to stop corruption,” he said.

He also directed the officials to raise awareness among people about corruption. “Ask them not only to register complaint against corrupt people but also to collect photographs, videos and other proofs to prove the guilt,” he directed the officials.

While the CS directed the Principal Secretary, Home to plan a meeting to clear off the pending works of the department, Principal Secretary, Vigilance Department informed Sharma that the department was underperforming because of the lack of man power. In response Sharma directed the Principal Secretary of the Home Department to fill the vacancies.

Interestingly, the Bureau is facing a major crisis of DSP and Inspector rank officers and the work is getting affected due to that.

This is despite orders of the High Court and the CS to provide at least 10 more DSPs to the Bureau.

There are 22 sanctioned posts of DSPs in the bureau out of which only six DSPs are there.
