Megha Bhardwaj on Tuesday took the charge of the DDC cum chief executive officer of the Zila Parishad Palamu.

She is a 2016 batch IAS officer and was earlier posted as joint secretary in the finance department in the Government of Jharkhand.

She has replaced Shekhar Jamuar, a state administrative cadre officer. Sources said Smt Megha Bhardwaj is the first lady DDC in the annals of Palamu spanning over fifty years or so as this chair had always seen males. State BJP spokesperson Lovely Gupta was the first woman to make a courtesy visit to her today.

Sources said the lady DDC has enormous challenges in this poverty stricken Palamu where earth work employment continues to be most labour intensive but in the rainy season under orders of the state government earthworks are stopped just to stem the corruption.
