First majority Govt completes 5-yr-term in State

Monday’s result will indicate whether the state will get strong stable Government or Khichdi Sarkar. However, most of the exit polls have indicated a hung Assembly with no parties getting the magic number for Government formation.

The Raghubar Das ministry is the first Government to complete a full term of five years after nine Governments fell before completing their tenure between 2000 and 2014, including three stints of President’s rule.

Not only has Raghubar Das given stable Govt which has completed five years of its tenure, but he has also not made any changes in his cabinet, neither dropping any Minister nor making new entry in Ministry.

According to the Constitution of India, the total number of Ministers in the Council of Ministers must not exceed 15% of the total number of members of the Lok Sabha or Assembly. As per the logic, Jharkhand has the strength of twelve Ministers, but five years back when Raghubar Das Government was formed 11 ministers were included in cabinet. One ministry portfolio was vacant, but neither the Chief Minister nor the BJP high command took interest in adding new member.

Also none of the Ministers’ portfolio was changed, for instance senior BJP leader CP Singh was given State urban development and housing Ministry and he retained the Ministry till end. Similarly, Neelkanth Singh Munda looked after the rural affairs ministry for its full term.

Similarly, junior minister Neera Yadav and Louis Marandi were given HRD and social welfare departments.

State BJP general secretary Dipak Prakash said, “Raghubar Das Government is first Government in state to complete its full term. Earlier, most of the Governments fail to complete its tenure leading to development hindrance.” Prakash added that the party has gone to people on this issue that only BJP can give stable Government. However, as per exit polls the BJP could be in for a shock in Jharkhand. According to the India Today-Axis My India exit poll, the BJP could end up falling short of reaching the half-way mark in the State.

The India Today-Axis My India exit poll for Jharkhand forecast the BJP winning just 22-32 seats in the Jharkhand Assembly, where a party needs at least 41 seats to win. The Congress-Jharkhand Mukti Morcha alliance, on the other hand, is forecast to win 38-50 seats.

Times Now Exit poll predicts 28 seats for BJP and 41 seats for the Congress + JMM alliance. As per IANS-ABC C-voter exit poll the Grand Alliance is predicted to bag 35 seats in the 81 member House. The ruling BJP is expected to win 32 seats.

Regional television News 11 Bharat has predicted a hung Assembly. As per its forecast, the BJP is going to win 30-35 seats, followed by the JMM 17-22, the Congress 09-12, the RJD-00-02. The channel has predicted that the regional parties (JVM and AJSU) will play the role of kingmakers in next Assembly election as JVM will get 05-06 seats, while Sudesh Mahto’s AJSU party will get 8-12 seats.
