A major fire broke out at a shop near Shahid Chowk on Sunday morning, reducing it to ashes. The high rising flames were doused after seven to eight hours of efforts using several fire tenders. Although no loss of life was reported, police claims that the loss to property is colossal. “It was a huge fire and it appears that the loss may run into crores. However, no human casualty took place. The owner is in a state of shock so we cannot quantify the loss of property in the fire,” said Kotalwi officer-in-charge.
The fire engulfed the shop of National Traders in morning hours of Sunday resulting in panic among the residents of nearby places. Police suspects that the fire would have been resulted due to the short circuit however investigations to find out exact reasons of fire is still in progress.The shop is located in a densely populated area however no adjoining building caught fire. “We controlled the fire from spreading even to the immediate floor above the shop. The casualty could have been more as the area is heavily populated,” said Kotalwi officer in-charge.
