An FIR has been lodged against the owner, manager of the Medicare Pathology lab for trading in blood unsafely, unauthorized way and illegally, thus causing threat to public life.
Inspector cum officer in charge of Daltonganj police station Tarun Kumar said FIR number 162/ 18 has been filed by medical officer cum incharge blood bank Dr Rajesh Kumar against this medicare pathology lab Aloke K Singh and police have registered the case under sections 418,419 and 420 of the IPC against Singh added the police inspector.
Dr Rajesh Kumar said the lab was alleged to be doing works of blood like collection and transfusion of the same which is unlawful and illegal. He said three pouches of blood were seized by the magistrate S S Pandey the Circle Officer Sadar Anchal on Sunday May 13.
Dr Kumar said the seizure of blood pouches is a very alarming thing here as blood pouch is a very restricted thing and is the sole property of blood bank and its unauthorized, illegal and unlawful use here in this lab for blood is quite a serious issue. He said blood pouches must be brought in here from outside the state as here blood bank is too tough and strict with pouches.
Dr Kumar further said he did not find any one getting blood transfusion or blood being collected from anyone in this lab on Sunday May 13 but a half filled blood pouch seizure suggests collection of blood must be going on here when the magistrate and the police raided this lab on May 13 and the man so giving his blood must have fled from the scene.
The magistrate S S Pandey CO Sadar said he carried out the seizure of three blood pouches and sealing of this lab under the order of the DC and the seized blood pouches have been given to Daltonganj police for its examination by FSl in Ranchi
Sources said trading in blood is a very lucrative business here where for one unit of blood the needy is made to cough up 5,000 rupees too. Those who sell blood gets 500 rupees only for one unit. Rare group blood like AB + etc costs more said sources.
Pandey said one civil activist Rakesh Tiwary led the administration to crack down against this lab for illegal blood trading.
He further said Rakesh Tiwary was tipped off by one former drug addict who had grievances against this lab in particular and Tiwary just pursued this case in all earnestness as Tiwary is said to have alerted DC Palamu first who then put Pandey and others on this job finally. lab owner Singh is at large police said.
