Ranchi district administration on Monday lodged a First Information report under section 138 (3) Representation of People Act 1958 and Section 188 of IPC at Argora Police Station against Jharkhand Mukti Morcha Executive president Hemant Soren and his wife Kalpana Soren for violation of Model Code of Conduct.
The case pertains to polling day in Ranchi on May 06, when Soren alongwith his wife had adorned scarves with JMM and party symbol written on those at a polling station and cast their votes with the scarves.
The BJP had lodged a formal complaint against Soren and his wife alleging Model Code of Conduct violation by the duo. On the directions of the Election Commission Executive Magistrate Rakesh Ranjan Oroan had conducted a probe in the matter and found the charges to be true. After lodging the case at Argora Police Station on Monday the report was submitted to the ECI.
