Finance Dept's circular does the trick, employees serious about Aadhaar

Published on:

The perennial order from the State Government directing its employees to keep their Aadhaar number ready for drawing payments from the treasury seems to be heading in the right direction this time.

The department of Finance had issued a circular making Aadhaar number mandatory for drawing salary from treasury from September onwards this year. However, due to poor number of Aadhaar centres such a circular had not led to satisfactory result in 2012 and the government had to postpone it for unknown duration.

The main target of the circular — the police force and government teachers — have taken the order with utmost seriousness. Their respective association have taken the lead in ensuring that none of the members is left out of the Aadhaar network.

“Almost all our members have completed Aadhaar registration. We are doing this on priority basis since we received the learned about the order of Aadhaar linked payment from State treasuries,” said Ram Murti Thakur, Secretary Akhil Jharkhand Prathmik Shikshak Sangh (AJPSS).

As many as 41,000 members of AJPSS draw salary from treasuries across the State.

Another group of teachers, Madhaymik Shikshak Sangh (MSS) directed all its members to complete Aadhar registration by the end of July. “We have to be part of any good step taken by government. I have requested our members to ensure that they provide their Aadhaar details as early as possible,” said Ravindra Prasad Singh, State General Secretary MSS. However, despite sincere efforts from the MSS, many teachers are still not registered under Aadhar programme. “Around 3000 teachers are not enrolled under Aadhaar,” added Singh.

Even the police force is said to be on its toes to get their Aadhaar number ready by August. “There is no mad rush to get Aadhar number however people are visiting the Aadhar centre at Doranda Post Office for enrolling themselves for Aadhaar,” said Aseem Singh of Jharkhand Armed Police. Incidentally, the Finance department was more concerned about the two groups as they are known to more vocal on their rights.
