Few takers for foreign varsities in State

Published on:

let us not think of studying abroad’, is the opinion of majority of the State students. local Consultancies feel lack of awareness for the abroad study craze is the prime reason that few students from Jharkhand prefer to study in abroad educational institutions.

As per the consultancies Proper Coaching Centre, High course fee and Visa fees for foreign education are the major reasons that the inclination among the Jharkhand students is not much in demand.

Captain Singh Saluja, Managing Director of education2jobs web portal who had been helping students to enroll for foreign universities at the City Centre office said, “We get only five to six queries from Jharkhand every month through our websites. Most of them hail from elite family background. Students usually ask for Management in Business Administration (MBA), law, Medical and Engineering in countries like United States of America (USA), United Kingdom (UK), Nepal, Russia and China. The queries are more for national universities. In abroad, the tuition fee and lodging facilities are expensive than India.”

These educational consultancies help the students for getting admission into foreign university via the foreign English test entrance exams like Test of English as a Foreign language (TOEFl) or International English language Testing System (IElTS).

Sometimes, the colleges admitting Indian students without these exams are also among the preferred criteria from the students in the consultancies.

They even help the students in opting 100 percent loans through nationalized banks and proper placements offered by these universities. The process of getting a ‘student visa’ is also made easier with the help of these consultancies.

“For colleges in Mauritius and Singapore no foreign entrance exam is required but we rarely get queries from Ranchi. The few enquiries we get are from districts like Dhanbad, Hazaribagh, Bokaro or Ramgarh or from Bihar. Guardians feel that sending their off springs might turn like May 2009 incidents of violence on Indian students in Australia.

“Presently, only 10 students are in the admission pipeline in noted Singapore and Mauritius colleges for management studies. The response for nationalized universities is far better,” said Azhar Raihan, an education consultant at Mahabir Tower.

Brijmohan Ojha, owner of Balaji Consultancy at Hari Om tower who is into this college admission business since a long time felt the absence of a good coaching centre for foreign entrance exams like IElTS, TOEFl and Graduate Record Examination (GRE) as the drawback wherein students have to move out to metropolitan cities like New Delhi, Bangalore or Kolkata for guidance.

“The awareness is low among students and their guardians. The few queries we get are mostly from high class families and that too either for UK or US only,” said Brijmohan.

Though the foreign university craze is low but the consultancies are waiting for the announcement of the CBSE matriculation and intermediate exam results this time wherein the queries may increase for abroad universities and so would be the successful admissions.
