To curb various malicious practices, hampering the distribution of subsidised food grains meant for deprived people and to combat black marketing, the department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs has launched a toll free number service. Complaints can be registered on the toll free number 18003456598 from across the State. The grievances will be dealt accordingly by the officers’ in-charge deputed by the department in a set timeframe.
“The toll free number will function during the office hours from 10 AM to 5 PM under the supervision of Secretary rank officer, Basant Kumar Das at present and as per the requirement, the service can be extended later on,” said, Department of Food and Consumer Affairs, Minister, Saryu Roy.
The department effort through such initiatives is to maintain regularity in foodgrains supply across districts along with ensuring and analysing the work of resource personnel associated with the department. The launch of the toll free number will empower those beneficiaries, who in the absence of basic amenities could not approach the officers and are deprived of the facilities provided by the government, pointed out Roy.
Roy also met Governor, Draupadi Murmu and presented a detailed analysis report of the department work. Apart from this, Roy handed over the elaborate reports of the inspection of Damodar River conducted from May 29 to June 2 to the Governor. The report highlights the present status of Damodar River.
“The meeting also foccused on various activities being undertaken by the department to enhance the Public Distribution System (PDS) and various other schemes and programmes,” Roy said.
Roy invited the Governor to attend the book release programme of ‘Yugantar Prakriti’ as the Chief Guest. Notably, Roy is the chief compiler of the book. The book has been compiled with the help of renowned environments which include water activist Rajendra Singh, MC Mehta, Professor SE Hansnain, RK Sinha, RN Sinha and others. The programme has been scheduled on June 14 at Sri Krishna Institute of Public Administration (SKIPA).
“Goa Governor, Mridula Sinha has given her consent to participate in the programme and will also address the gathering on June 14,” added Roy.
