FCI urges Latehar paddy farmers to visit procurement centres

Published on:

Food Corporation of India has urged the paddy farmers registered with paddy procurement centres located in Latehar, Garhwa and

Palamu districts to visit the respective centres of their districts where their paddy can be procured without any problem.

Sources said response of paddy farmers in Latehar district is left much to be desired. Here the turnout of paddy farmers at the paddy procurement centres is unimpressive despite mandatory SMS being sent to them.

A registered farmer gets three SMS and if it goes unattended then the same farmer may come to the paddy procurement centres where his consignment of paddy can be procured only when the queue of the farmers of the day is exhausted.

Sources said paddy procurement centres have till December 21 sent 3,978 SMSs to the farmers against which 374 farmers have reached the centres with their paddy consignments worth 22,135 quintals which have been procured.

Sources said procurement price worth 3.5 crore has been credited to the bank accounts of the farmers of these three districts whose paddy has been procured.

Government of India has fixed two MSP (minimum support price) which is 1,750 per quintal for common variety of paddy while for high quality paddy it is 1,770 rupees per quintal.

FCI has appealed to the paddy farmers of Latehar district to reach their paddy procurement centres with bags of paddy for its procurement there.

Sources said a total of 31 paddy procurement centres have been set up in these three districts Latehar, Garhwa and Latehar.

Out of 31 29 paddy procurement centres are well in operation.

FCI has asked the farmers to register their complaint or grievance if any at this number 0651 -2214196 which will be attended to immediately.

Paddy procurement is under constant monitoring of the district administration and at state level too for the ease of business of the registered paddy farmers.
