Coach indicators installed at platform number 1 & 2 at Daltonganj railway station under ECR of Dhanbad division do not work forcing passengers sick and senior and children to run to locate their respective coaches of reservation. On Sunday a mother and her three years child had this ordeal in which the mother boarded the Jabalpur Howrah Shaktipunj express train when the train had started running while her child was physically pulled in another coach by a passenger of the train not knowing any thing about this hurried and risky boarding of the lady passenger.
Sources said the announcement with regard to coaches of Shaktipunj express train was very improper. The announcer did not give details like how many coaches away from brake van in the rear of this train etc. The passengers could not calculate how far in the rear of the train as the announcement was made without mentioning any landmark on the platform like foot over bridge, some poles etc they would find the AC coaches.
Sources said when Jabalpur Howrah express train reached well in time on Sunday at Daltonganj railway station there was panic and commotion among lady passengers and senior citizen passengers as they were found running and running to enter their reserved berths of respective coaches.
It was a sheer chance that no lady passenger or senior citizen passenger did come in between train and platform otherwise tragedy was most inevitable. The Pioneer tried to speak to divisional head of the Commercial wing A K Jha here but this railway official did not take the call.
Daltonganj railway station superintendent A K Tiwary was approached on phone and given details of the inconveniences to passengers on account of coach indicator not working and improper announcement to which this railway official said, "The matter will be brought to the notice of the concerned railway officials."
