In a glaring case of atrocities against the girl child, a five-year-old girl was raped by a man in neighbouring Seraikela-Kharswan district on Monday.
According to information a 40-year-old Randhir Ojha, a father of two daughters, lured the child and raped her at the Transport Colony. The victim was playing outside her house when Ojha forced her to a near by location and raped her. The accused was, however, nabbed by the victim’s parents as well as a group of local residents. They beat him badly before handing over to the police.
According to victim’s mother, the girl was playing near her house when Ojha cajoled her and took her to near by place. As the girl did not return home, her anxious mother went in search of her and found her lying in a semi-nude condition. She called her husband and they found injuries on her private parts.
The police are questioning the accused. The victim, terrified into silence after the incident, broke down and narrated the incident to her parents. SP Indrajit Mahatha confirmed that the police have arrested the accused for allegedly raped the minor girl. “It is a heinous crime and we are investigating the incident.The accused has also been admitted at MGM Hospital after being assaulted by the local people,” said the DSP.
He said the girl was sent to MGM Medical College and Hospital for a medical examination for confirmation of the rape. However, she was referred to Tata Main Hospital for better medical care. The police are also trying to find out whether any one of else was aware about the abduction of the girl and the subsequent rape. The accused has been arrested under IPC section of 376. A police officer said that a case has been registered and the matter will be investigated thoroughly. The case will be handled with great care.
