The festival of democracy which started last month with the issue of notification of urban civic polls 2013 will end on April 7 with the pressing of buttons by the voters at their respective booths in Hazaribagh. More than 1 lakh voters of Hazaribagh municipal council area will vote for the posts of chairman and 30 ward councillors. Two ward councillors have already been declared elected unopposed.

For the post of chairman five candidates are in the battle field.

This time the number of candidates is less than that in the 2008 election and most of the Ex-councillors are in main contest this time. A total of 187 candidates are in fray for 30 seats of ward councilors and the number of women candidates this time is 76. On Saturday candidates and the supporters were seen busy giving final touch to their campaigns.

Arrangement of ID cards for polling agents, arrangement of their breakfast etc. during the polling time and finalising the strategy to bring out their voters before others from their houses and to send them to their booths were going on everywhere.
