The meeting organised here was chaired by RSS leader and patron of the association Indresh Kumar and the meeting was attended among others by Regional Head of FANS, Golukh Bihari, former Chief Minister Arjun Munda and new office bearers of the organisation.

Kumar talked about prevailing security situations and challenges to national security. He stressed upon social harmony, religious tolerance and focused on different dimensions of security of a State. He also highlighted the significance of clear vision on security and clarity on what is needed to counter threats to internal as well as national security.

“There is a perception for security also and security cannot be ensured if perception in not clear. We need to awaken the concept of motherland in the society as there is a lot of confusion over the concept,” said Kumar. The veteran of the movement of security also underscored the significance of society and government in the broader picture of the apparatus needed to be created to deal with threats of various types.

“Government and society are two pedestals. While government frames law and punishes according to law, society through its institutions, leaders and intellectuals lead society and find solution to its problems,” maintained Kumar. Significantly, new office bearers were instated on the occasion to carry forward the awareness process in Jharkhand.

Former DG-Home Guard, Kumud Choudhary has been named as the president of the Jharkhand Chapter, social activist Pawan Bajaj and Chairman of the State Minority Commission, Shahid Akhtar have been appointed as Vice-president of the association, Dr Tapas Mallick has been declared as General Secretary, Deepak Rungta named as Treasure and Gyanendra Kumar has been given the responsibility of Secretary of FANS Jharkhand Chapter.

The former DG enumerated the challenges for Jharkhand and urged all to work in the direction of addressing the problem. Choudhary drew attention to the problems of extremism, human trafficking, fake currency and other problems which the State needs to address to bolster internal security. “We share land borders with countries which are not friendly to us and we have faced aggression on our coastal borders as well. The subject of national security is very vast,” added Choudhary.

On the occasion, Pawan Bajaj specified the threats to internal security, emphasised on nipping the problems in its bud, eliminating the sources of threat to strengthen state as well as national security. “We need to identify threats to internal security and their sources. Today, attempts are being made to derail our economy by pumping-in counterfeit currency. If we can identify the destructive forces active in the State and eliminate them then we can improve our security,” pointed out Bajaj. The forum will work towards increasing awareness among the society with the greater objective of plugging the gaps in the State’s security.
