Except some odd scenes at a couple of polling booths, turnout remained at more than 60 per cent in Koderma lS constituency. DC K Ravi Kumar briefed newsmen in a press conference today on Thursday evening in presence of SP Sangeeta Kumari, SDO Sunil Kumar, DSP Harilal Yadav and DPO Shahid Akhtar.
In Gujhandi area 10 kilometers from Koderma station where in earlier lS elections the rooftops were dotted with presence of para military forces ensuring dense security cover to dispel fear factor in the minds of voters.
However the scene in the very same area located in the forest area was completely changed with smooth polling with mere 4-5 security personnels at booth. More than 50 percent turnout registered by 12 noon.
It is this Gujhandi area where Naxalites blew the railway station seven years back giving surprise shock as to the presence of Reds inching towards town.
Even women from minority community showed interest in coming out of their home to take part in voting. At Maduatand booth no. 79 in Jhumri Telaiya people did boycott to show their displeasure with the last moment turning of flyover-slope to allegedly extend undue favour to the landowners.
Additional Collector Arun Kumar Mishra had to reach with Koderma BDO Prabhash Kr. Dutta to persuade the disgruntled lot for voting. After resisting for two hours the officers duo could ensure voting.
Polling personnels appeared satisfied with the facitlities and arrangements as they seemed comfortable in discharge of their duties.
