Execution of Govt schemes will be my priority: Antu Tirkey

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) backed mayoral candidate Antu Tirkey aims to execute the welfare schemes at the ground level, originally meant for the poor and slum dwellers if he wins in this election. Antu plunged into politics just after passing his class 10th examination. Since then, he never looked back till he was nominated as a candidate for Mayor’s post in the forthcoming Civic polls.

Tirkey, after filing his nomination for the post is working hard to gather support for himself and has started door to door campaigning to convince the people. “I have been campaigning expensively since I have filed my nomination and quite hopeful this time as I have the support of my party with me,” he said.

Although Tirkey wanted to fight the next Assembly elections from Khijri seat, he plunged into the civic polls due to the uncertainty regarding the future of the seat out of speculations regarding JMM’s possible alliance with Congress party in the coming Assembly elections.

Tirkey himself being a tribal believes that there is a lot to be done for the people of Ranchi and providing ration card for all will also be in his priority list. According to Tirkey, works done by the sitting Mayor Rama Khalkho is not visible in the Ranchi Municipal area and a lot could have been done for the welfare of the people as she had five year time to deliver.

“I strongly feel that the tribal people in Jharkhand need to be made aware of the ground reality besides educating them. Education for all will also be in my priority list,” he said.

Tirkey (44) has been associated with the JMM after completing his schooling and has been quite active on social issues. “Considering his dedication towards the welfare of the people, the party requested him to contest for the post of Mayor and with its backing,” said JMM leader Vinod Pandey.
