Being socially responsible means people and organisations must behave ethically and with sensitivity on social, cultural, economic and environmental issues. Striving for social responsibility helps individuals, organisations and Governments have a positive impact on development at all levels,” said the Governor in her address at ISR conclave organised at Delhi Public School, Ranchi on Wednesday.
She further added that individuals should strive to set good examples by applying and
adhering to socially responsible practices, such as improving the quality of lives for
individuals and their families, volunteer energy and time towards improving and benefiting our society.
“The individual social responsibility includes engagement of person towards the community where he lives, which can be expressed as an interest towards what’s happening in the community, as well as his active participation in solving the local problems. Each community lives its own life that undergoes a process of development all the time. Everyone of us should take part in the developmental process at different levels; for example, by taking part in cleaning of the street in which he lives, organization of an event, by rendering social services to children without parents or helping the elderly people. Donating for a good cause is another way to discharge the responsibility, be it money, material, time or energy.”
