About 1,000 villages of Jharkhand are yet to get electricity and we are trying our best to connect these villages by December 2013.” This was said by SN Verma, chairman of Jharkhand Electricity Board, at Hazaribagh. Verma was here on Friday to inaugurate the 5th consumer grievances redressal forum office of JSEB.

Chairman Verma inaugurated the office of grievance redressal forum at Babugaon, Korrah, by cutting the ribbon in presence of officers and staffs of JSEB and a good number of consumers. In his address he hoped that now the consumers of Hazaribagh will get quick redressal of their grievances. AK Agrawal, SN Prasad and other officers of JSEB, Hazaribagh, also expressed their views on this occasion. After this ceremony Verma said that very soon JSEB will be in a position that after any fault in the transformers the consumers will get new transformer within two days.

He said that when he joined two years back the number of burnt transformers was 900+ which is now about 250 and very soon we will have surplus, he added.

Regarding uninterrupted power supply he said that we need 250MW electricity more for it and claimed that the situation of power supply in Jharkhand is better than adjoining States Bihar, Orissa and West Bengal. On the issue of problems arising in rural areas due to installation of low power transformers Verma informed that cabinet has given his nod to install 3 low powered transformers at a place to tackle the problem.

On the issue of privatisation of JSEB, Verma said that initially we had given power distribution work to private operators and if the results are satisfactory then we would proceed further. He gave examples of other States where after privatisation the position of power supply has improved and revenue collection has also increased.

The JSEB is facing human resource crunch these days and very soon we will appoint about 5000 persons as per our requirement. 2500 vacancies in JSEB is going to be published very soon, Verma informed.
