Euphoria builds up among BJP workers as polls enter last leg

As Assembly elections in Jharkhand enter the decisive phases with Santhal Pargana waiting for its turn to vote for their representative in the last leg of elections the mood at BJP office speaks for the optimism build over one-and-half-month and also the latent desire to burst in celebrations for the party workers claim to have smelled victory even before official result is announced.

Elections in 65 Assembly constituencies are over by Sunday thus giving enough numbers to the BJP workers to do their permutations and combinations needed to form government in the 81-member Jharkhand Assembly. The atmosphere at the party office points toward the feeling that the BJP juggernaut will decimate political opponents paving way for the BJP-led Government.

“There is not even an iota of doubt that we will comfortably form a government in the State. My calculation says that we will shine in the elections as people have faith on Narendra Modi. We will win more than 60 seats this time,” said BJP spokesperson, Kamal Khan.

As focus shifts on Santhal and leaders of the saffron brigade rush to the last frontier in Jharkhand, the favourite activity of those left behind is to take a pulse of the voters from a distance amid the lull at the party headquarter. People turning pages of newspaper, political discussions and post poll analysis have filled the vacuum created as election office shifts to Deoghar to give Jharkhand Mukti Morcha a real fight in its stronghold. How the party is going to fare in Santhal Pargana is also a subject of intense debate in the quite corners of the BJP headquarters but the ambience is brimming with confidence of good show in the region.

“We will give JMM run for its money in Santhal. They are not strong to defend their fortress against us and the election will mark the beginning of new era for the BJP in the region,” said spokesperson of BJP’s minority wing, Tariq Imran.

Notwithstanding the notion of a clear majority in the election party workers spend days in front of the television set to verify their views with those of the independent political observers and try to conceal happiness behind manufactured sarcasm that it is too early to become euphoric about a positive outcome. Besides, obtaining news about voters and voting percentage has become order of the day at the party office at Ranchi.

“Voting percentage assures us about persistence of NaMo wave that had started during lS elections. We all are of opinion that the wave will bring change in Jharkhand also and we are waiting to stand witness to a change for a better future of Jharkhand,” said an office staff at the party headquarters.
