The ‘essence of Jharkhand’ came alive at Audrey House and Morabadi Ground on Monday as hundreds of creative hands spilled colours on canvas to depict the transformed Jharkhand heading towards the new dawn. Painting competition themes like festivals of Jharkhand, prominent tribal dances, cultural heritage of the land of forest, tourism, Jharkhand in 2025 and CM of Jharkhand for one day marked the second day of Statehood Day celebration.
For 13 year old Sana, it was all new experience to give vision to her painting depicting the status of tourism in State. Knowing much about the prominent tourist destination of Jharkhand, Sana said, “There is so much in our State to depict. I am little bit confused so I have restricted myself to one specific eminent tourist spot.”
Similarly, Sarita Kumari of KGBV Burmu, added, “With the theme ‘CM of Jharkhand for one day’, I can now present my opinion on how a leader of the State should be like. This is the perfect platform to give shape to our hallucination. I am keeping my finger crossed to get selected in this competition as competing with around 800 artist is not easy in the State level programme.”
With approximately 880 budding painters contending with each other, few lucky one will get the golden opportunity to have their painting on Department of Tourism, Art and Culture annual calendar printed as announced earlier.
Interestingly, not only kids but some professional artistes gathered at Audrey House showcased their skills on canvas as well during the ongoing Statehood Day celebration. The blend of contemporary art and tribal relics captured the attention of denizens at the two destinations.

“Minister has assured us to develop age old Audrey House into active ‘cultural adda’ soon. Amar Bauri has asked us to submit the rough sketch of coffee house cum art arena at earliest. Bauri enthusiastically participated in the competition and outlined his concept on canvas motivating the others participants,” said renowned artist, Haren Takur at Audrey House.
Artists of Jharkhand got an opportunity to share platform with the artists of Goa-Konkan region on the second day of 16th State Foundation Day.
