Vedanta-Electrosteel (ESL) is mulling to increase its production capacity from 1.5 MTPA to 3 MTPA at Siyaljori unit in Bokaro.
ESL is committed for the welfare and advancement of the local people, clarifying that the expansion would lead to a huge increase in employment opportunities at ESL for the local people, said an ESL official.
Appreciating the government's move, continued support and encouragement official said that the company aims to provide 70 per cent employment to the local community.
With the expansion of the plant, their aim is to increase the source of employment and welfare of the community in the state, he said.
“We have enough acquired land at Bokaro; the company is planning to come up with another big new steel unit under the brownfield project. A 4.5 MT steel unit is proposed to come up at Bokaro,” said the official.
“We are coming up with new brands in TMT bars, Ductile Iron Pipe (DI Pipes) and Wire rods. Our TMT bar is re-branded as V-Jega, DI Pipes as V-DI Pipe and Wire rods as V-Wiro,” he added.
Notably, the Vedanta group has always been known for its social welfare work. ESL's social work has also always been praised. With the expansion, it will also be the main objective of the company to provide employment to the local community and work for their betterment.
More recently, ESL received Greentech Foundation's 7th CSR India Award, 2020 and the SHE (Safety, Health and Environment)
Excellence Award. Besides that, ESL honored with four more awards, informed a Public Relation Official of ESL.
The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) presented the Outstanding Manager Award to ESL in support of the company's philosophy and working pattern to recognise and empower skilled managers.
The company, on the other hand, has received a certificate of appreciation from the FICCI for Quality System Excellence Awards for good practice in large-scale manufacturing quality systems, the official said.
“Meanwhile, QCFI also awarded ESL employees with the” 5S Kaizen Team Awards,” said the official.
For their outstanding work in CSR activities such as Women's Empowerment, Wellness, Education, Climate, Hygiene and Sports, ESL was selected for the Brand India Excellence Awards, in which they were awarded the most creative CSR Program category of the year, said the official.
