ESL contributing towards the development of tribal society: CEO

Published on:

ESL has been contributing towards the development of the tribal society, which has great potential, but their bright minds have not been exploited fully, said N. L. Vhatte, CEO, ESL Steel Limited.

ESL, therefore, empowers girls, young women, and men by expanding social, educational, and economic opportunities. Our focus lies in educating and Skilling this population to grow and become independent as most of them suffer from extreme poverty, he said.

Our several initiatives, including Project JEEVIKA, WADI, in association with NABARD, Nand Ghars, Project Prerna, and Vedanta ESL Skill Schools, have helped in shaping their future. “We have so far trained more than 60 tribal youth this year and look forward to training many more in the future,” added Vhatte.

ESL recently participated in CII’s fourth Jharkhand Tribal Development Meet, organised to enhance the quality of life of tribal communities and create a path for them to come into the mainstream of development, informed a PR official of ESL.

The focus of the meet was to promote various schemes being offered by the Tribal Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (TRIFED); discussing schemes and policies to utilize the tribal workforce and offer employment and entrepreneurship opportunities to them. He said the meet was held broadly for their overall development and upliftment and to showcase success stories.

Resonating CII’s commitment and passion to uplift and develop the lives of the tribal population, ESL has constantly been rolling out initiatives that contribute to their wellbeing, said the official.
