ERONet software to reduce chances of mistakes in voter card

ERONet, the new software system introduced by the Election Commission of India helps to check inaccuracy and duplicity of votes. Using the software, people can get registered for voter ID and get details of voter card changed online, said Rai Mahimapat Ray, Deputy Commissioner Bokaro.

Addressing the media persons, Rai said, since all states use the same software, ERONet will help Election Commission monitor and analyse voters’ details.

“The system will help to make the voters’ list error-proof and EC will be able to analyse the gap between total population and the number of voters based on the Census data,” he added.

Earlier people have to approach block level officers (BlOs) for registration, deletion and correction of their votes ahead of elections. After online registration, voters will get a unique ID, with which they can check the status of the application till the completion of the registration process, he said.

The online application will directly reach the election returning officer, BlO and supervisor. After receiving the request, the BlO will contact the voter for verification.

The major benefit of this system is that the voter can upload personal details at his or her level; will reduce chances of mistakes in voter card details, he said.
