The State level Bankers’ Committee (SlBC) today asked the Industries department to expedite notification of Jharkhand Export Policy and suggested banks to make necessary changes related to export finance. In its 45th meeting, the SlBC also suggested banks to expedite steps that are necessary for DBT (Direct Transfer of Benefits) schemes.

The SlBC asked the member banks to increase the pace of account opening, linking accounts with Aadhaar numbers and providing additional delivery channel and banking facilities to the DBT beneficiaries. The committee advised banks to stick to time line given for seeding and mapping besides ensuring that the task is completed within seven days from the date of receipt of data. The SlCB also took up the matter of linking Aadhaar numbers with bank accounts for receipt of subsidy for lPG under DBT-l with representatives of Oil Marketing Companies.

Notably, the committee suggested that based on the potential of a district the targets for Kishan Credit Cards (KCC) must be rationalized and targets must be redistributed among the districts. Besides, the committee also called for holding a meeting of Controlling Heads of Public as well as Private Banks for making strategies for intensifying financing under KCC.

The committee expressed concern over differences in the overall CD (credit deposit) Ratio of the State and discussed on the formation of a committee under the Chairmanship of Reserve Bank of India to ascertain the reasons for the gap. Moreover, a sub-committee of DlCC is to be formed to formulate & implement the “Monitorable Action Plan” in districts where the CD ratio is below 30 per cent.
