Ensure security at RIMS: CM

Chief Minister (CM) Raghubar Das on Friday asked the officials to ensure discipline and security at medical colleges in the State. During a review meeting he also asked Principal Secretary, Health K Vidyasagar to publish advertisements for director’s post at the colleges at the earliest.

He expressed concern over the condition of Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS). He said people without unimportant work are seen roaming within premises of institute due to which the treatment of patients by the doctors is affected.

Following the need of strict discipline, CM directed Vidyasagar to stop the entry of such people from Saturday onwards. He asked the Principal Secretary to issue an identity pass to only one attendant of a patient. Also, he ordered to fix a time for the attendant and visitors of an admitted patient in the hospital.

Das has told Additional Director General of Police Kamal Nayan Chaubey to inspect the campus of RIMS for security purpose. Notably, on Wednesday night a dispute between hostel number 2 and 3 boys was reported. The administration of the cradle failed to receive calls of the students when the incident occurred. later, on Thursday morning, the administrative officials headed by SK Chaudhary reached the spot.

The administration is yet to take action over matter. Meanwhile, a three member team of Medical Council of India (MCI) is scheduled to inspect RIMS on Saturday. Sources maintained Chief Minister (CM) Raghubar Das is also expected to visit the premiere medical cradle today. “All the employees have been asked to be present tomorrow,” said a woman staff.

The issues of inspection are related to confusing statement of institute Director Dr Satyendra Kumar Chaudhary over ragging of undergraduate boy students by their seniors in hostel after annual fest Synergy concluded in January. A hostel student said, “After the ragging incident, the administration has installed CCTVs at the entrance of all the girls and boys hostels. But, it is of no use as problems are witnessed inside the hostel. We hope MCI will take a favorable action.”
