Chief Secretary Rajbala Verma on Thursday directed officials to make comprehensive preparations for Shravani Mela and ensure that the Kanwarias do not have to face any problem. The CS also asked them to ensure uninterrupted power supply, water supply, street light, medical facilities to the Kanwarias. The Chief Secretary was holding a high level meeting regarding preparations being made for the pilgrims.
The CS asked Drinking Water and Sanitation Department to install bio-toilets as per the number of pilgrims at halt stations. “Repairing of hand pumps, installation of storage tanks must also be ensured before June 30,” said the CS. She also directed the officials of Road Construction Department to complete all construction work before mela and also review the work progress speedily.
“Generators must also be arranged by Energy Department for emergency situations,” said Verma. Energy Secretary informed the CS that as many as 200 points have been identified where lED lights are being installed. “In order to ensure smooth traffic during the mela, the department has also decided to remove unused electricity poles from the roads,” said the Energy Secretary. Additional lED lights will also be installed inside the temple campus, he added.
Better regulation of crowd along with proper facility management for Kanwarias will be the prime focus during this Shravani Mela in Deoghar. To deal with any untoward situation during it, two companies of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) will also be appointed along the route lining and Temple-campus.
“There are certain things on which we are putting special attention this time which includes proper crowd management along with the facility management for Kanwarias so that they do not have to face any problem during darshan. Special care will also be taken so that the crowd does not get stranded at any particular place and keeps on moving regularly,” said Project Officer (Disaster Management) in Jharkhand Colonel SK Srivastava.
The motive behind it is to make first hand information available to them without keeping them in dark, which could only be possible through installation of CCTV cameras and monitors on the route from Sultanganj to Deoghar and inside the temple campus, he added.
“Preparations have already been started by identifying several critical and vulnerable spots where extra deployment of security forces needs to be done,” said Deoghar SP A Vijaylaxmi.
