Chief Secretary Rajbala Verma has directed all civil surgeons, District Social Welfare Officers (DSWOs) and Child Development Programme Officers (CDPOs) to fix responsibilities of Anganwadi Sevikas and Sahiyas in ensuring institutional delivery and take strict action against the staffs who are not delivering their duties according to the set norms.

Verma was addressing the civil surgeons, DSWOs and CDPOs about institutional delivery and nutritious food run under the Social Welfare Department and the Health Department at Project Building on Saturday.

Verma has directed the officials to conduct a survey about pregnant women, promote institutional delivery and fix responsibility on Sevikas and Sahiyas. She asked to identify those districts where the condition is not satisfactory and run special drive to ensure it.

Verma instructed the civil surgeons to pay the bills of all the pathology centres of the State which are run under PPP mode. Special drive too must be run under Rainbow Program Mission in the districts where immunization programme is not satisfactory. She directed the National Health Mission to analyze institutional delivery and immunization programme district wise and prepare a list of weak districts. Action must be taken against such Anganwadi centres where institutional delivery and immunization programme is zero.

She urged them to take an initiative to boost up the quality of Rural Health Nutrition Day so that the malnourished children and their parents are benefitted out of it. Verma directed them to conduct camps on the scheduled date failing which, action will be taken against the staffs and officers-in-charge.

Verma directed the health department officers to get delivery equipments for the health centres, sub-health centres and primary-health centres through floating tenders and, at the same time, availability of necessary medicines should be ensured.

The CS has strictly directed the DSWOs and CDPOs to give their cent percent to fulfill the target or be ready to face the consequences. Notably, a minimum target is fixed for ANMs, sevikas and Sahiyas to ensure institutional delivery. However, the work is not done properly in some districts.

Principal Secretary, Health K Vidyasagar, Secretary, Welfare Department Vinay Kumar Choubey and Ashish Singhmar of NRHM were present in the meeting.
