Though several steps has been initiated by the School Education and literacy Department to enhance the status of education in all Government schools functioning across the State, lack of electricity supply at several schools in different districts is a major hurdle in imparting quality education among kids especially with the advent of Information and communication technology (ICT) in the recent years.
In the recent review meeting of School Education and literacy Department, Chief Secretary Rajbala Verma has instructed all the officials of the concerned department to act and address the need of electricity supply in all the Government schools at the earliest to cater to the need of present education system covering technical aspects.
The CS while instructing the officials has asked to electrify all the schools of the state by the end of the year. Verma has directed School Education and literacy, Secretary, Aradhana Patnaik and authorities concerned to get detailed project report (DPR) prepared from Energy Department for the electrification project and to complete the work within the prescribed timeframe considering all the feasible facets.
The process for getting the first installment from the Central Government must be completed by the concerned department by June 2016. Moreover, the Energy department has already taken up the project at few districts.
“The Energy Department in consultation with the School Education and literacy Department has already initiated the project and DPR has been submitted to the concerned department for further approval. last year, the department has been successful in electrification process of all 208 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) functioning across the state. By the end of this year, we will be covering maximum districts targeting the high schools in the first phase. All other technical glitches are also being sort out,” informed, MD, Jharkhand Urja Vidyut Nigam limited (JUVNl), Rahul Purwar.
Nevertheless, those schools functioning in the remote areas where grid connections are difficult, the department in consultation with Jharkhand Renewable Energy Department Agency (JREDA) and other major agencies will work accordingly on the project. “So far, we have not received any proposal on solar power project from the concerned department. However, by June 2016, the solar power project of 10 kilo watt will cover 36 KGBV operating in remote areas. If the department will require any additional assistance, we are ready to provide,” informed, JREDA, Chairperson, DK Tewatia. Proper electrification will not just boost the infrastructural requirement of the Government schools but will also help in imparting education among the kids at par with the private schools.
