Empower Jharkhand holds medical camp for female soccer players

Noticing the recent death of a soccer girl Asrita lakra at Argora Football Academy due to anemia, Empower Jharkhand, a social organisation, organised a medical camp for the female footballers of Sports Authority of India (SAI) at Ranchi centre on Thursday.

The camp included hemoglobin, orthopaedic and dental check up.

As many as 250 players benefitted here. Appreciating the camp, SAI Jharkhand coordinator Sushil Verma said that such programmes must be conducted after an interval of six months, so that the rural players unable to get such medical facilities can atleast know about their health ailments prior to participating in state level competitions.

A tribute was paid to lakra prior to the beginning of the camp. Empower Jharkhand president Aditya Vikram Jaisawal said that such medical camps will be carried out in the villages of the State regularly so that talented players like

lakra do not lose their life at a tender age.

Ortho surgeon Nilesh Mishra said, “More than 100 players frequently complain of ankle sprains due to lack of sports equipments and better ground facilities. In such scenario, it is important to ensure the health care of sportspersons irrespective of their gender through frequent medical camps.”
