Overall 4, 67,000 employees out of 4, 92, 000 employees registered at Employee’s Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) in Jharkhand have successfully completed formalities for registering themselves for Universal PF Account Number (UAN).
The EPFO began seeding the UANs with subscriber’s bank account numbers, PAN, Aadhaar and other Know-your-Customers (KYC) details to improve the delivery of its services in July this year.
As many as 15,000 employers (organizations) including government and private organizations are registered under EPFO in the state. Among the 4, 92,000 employees, EPFO’s Ranchi regional office covers 2, 32,000 employees while Jamshedpur regional office covers 2, 60,000.
“Show cause notices sent to 2,900 employers for not completing KYC seeding on UAN has brought results. We are glad that majority of the employers have succeeded in linking up documents for UAN,” Samarendra Kumar, regional PF commissioner, Grade I said during a press conference on Tuesday.
With the UAN, an employee will have a permanent PF account number lifelong despite working in various organizations. Also, it will give the facility of viewing updated account besides downloading the same and provision of pensionable service.
Applauding central government’s recent initiative, Kumar informed about Deen Dayal Upadhyay Shramev Jayate Karyakram which is to be unveiled by PM at New Delhi on October 16. The programme would include inauguration of a Unified labour Portal Sharm Suvidha and a random Inspection Scheme, which are major initiatives of the ministry of labour and employment for ensuring ease of compliance of labour laws.
“Apart from portability of EPFO accounts through UAN and scheme for support to apprenticeship and other initiatives in vocational training would also be unveiled,” Kumar said.
Presently, there are 15 inspectors posted at the two regional offices of EPFO in the state. Officials maintained that the mode of communication on complaints registered at state level will now be directly conveyed to the inspectors at New Delhi for a prompt solution.
Notably, the KYC seeding for UAN will help employees who have more than one PF accounts. “It will simply merge the two PF accounts and keep an employee updated through one UAN,” Kumar mentioned.
