Even after four months of counseling, Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) qualified candidates selected for primary teachers’ posts are sitting idle without getting appointment letters. On the 16th Jharkhand Foundation Day, a few teachers were provided with the appointment letters. Still many eligible candidates so far have not received any appointment letter from the concerned authorities.

Citing details about the appointment procedure, Director Secondary Education, Manish Ranjan said, “Teachers eligibility test is just a screening test for the candidates and it is not mandatory that every one those who have qualified the test will get an appointment letter. Certain norms like cut-off marks in different exams at various levels also determine the appointment procedure.”

Though, the proposal in this regard has to be moved by the education department and circulated to all the districts which would have to work afresh for preparing the waiting list.

“Five counseling are completed and two more counseling are presently being conducted in different districts. We have prepared the data base and most probably we are going to release the merit list in the first week of December. Approximately, 10 to 12 thousands eligible candidates will be selected from the all the 24 districts of Jharkhand,” said District Education Officer, Jayant Kumar Mishra.

“Few teachers were provided with the appointment letter on November 15 and rest eligible candidate will receive the appointment letter only after the process gets over fulfilling all the necessary criteria,” Mishra added.

Moreover student who have qualified the exam have their own reasons to cite. “I was called for the counseling in September and candidates during the test were informed that the result will be declared in October itself. According to the rule, the authority was to conduct only two counseling but this too has been extended,” said Sumit, a TET qualified candidate.

“Moreover few candidates were selected for the other districts too and at the end rest seats in other districts remained vacant and now authorities are just shifting the dates of final result,” he added.
