The Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) is all set to welcome 55 ward councillors for the next five years as the results for the municipal elections 2013 has finally been declared on Thursday. The counting started from around 8 AM at Pandra Krishi Bazaar amid tight security.

Interestingly, the female dominated board of RMC will feature young & old newly elected faces, sitting ward councillors who were on cloud nine after winning the election and wives of those sitting councillors who could not contest the election.

Enthusiastic about his second victory Sanjeev Vijay Vargiya said, “People were happy with my work that is why they have chosen me again. With people’s support I would like to develop my ward as model ward.” He won from ward-10

Sitting councillor Saroj Gari shares the same view that development helped him in winning the ward elections this too. “People have voted for development, that is what I have done in last five years and will do in next five years.”

For sitting ward councillors, their victory in this election would help them in finishing incomplete works alongwith starting new projects to provide better amenities.

Posing with victory sign, Ashok Yadav, sitting councillor of ward-33 said, “It is time to complete unfinished tasks and I have planned to start water pipeline work in my ward also.”

Although for good, life of newly elected ward councillors has taken an abrupt turn which they have accepted courteously and have promised to work in the interest of the people who have reposed their faith in them.

After her maiden victory, Poonam Devi thanked her supporters for making her victorious and said, “I will ensure that benefits meant for public reaches to them and they do not face any difficulty in getting their work done at RMC.” She won from ward-12.

An electorate could not ask for better if he is provided with the facilities which are unimaginable by rural standards. Newly elected councillor of ward-37 Arun Jha has promised to make an effort in that direction. “My objective is to provide facilities in rural areas which will be at par with urban areas,” said Jha.
