This website and helpline numbers were launched by Aryans Group of Colleges-Chandigarh chairman Anshu Kataria in Ranchi on Tuesday.
Speaking about the purpose of launching this website, Anshu told the mediapersons, “As many as six lakhs SC/ST students belong to states including Bihar and Jharkhand. The Central and State Government provide a huge amount of `250 crores for these students scholarships but due to lack of information, students fail to avail such benefits. In order to provide them all necessary information on this scholarship, the website has been launched.”
According to Dr Kataria, Rs 6500 crore is disbursed by the Central Government every year for scholarships to SC/ST students. He also conceded that the State Government is working out an online system for minority students in regard to scholarships.
There are state funded scholarships aimed at students studying technical or professional course outside Jharkhand. “About 30 per cent of the State-funded scholarship is reserved for girl students. This fund is meant for students who belong to families that have annual income less than `2.5 lakhs.”
The Website displays details about the Acts and Rules meant for SC/ST students. It also mentions details about the SC/ST student schemes carried out in Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, West Bengal, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
