The Covid-19 virus has now spread in the Government’s offices in Jharkhand after the regional office of premier investigative agency Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Ranchi was forced to shut down after an official of ED was tested positive with coronavirus.

The office of the ED; the Central Government’s undertaking was shut down and deep sanitisation was undertaken for disinfection of the ED office as well as other parts of the building.

While the asymptomatic official tested positive was kept in home quarantine and he is slowly recovering other staff members of this investigative agency are under observation and their samples have been taken.

Sources in the ED confirmed development saying that they are not sure as to how one of their officials got affected by the virus.

But this is widely believed that the said official came into contact with a virus affected person during investigation of a case. The contact tracing of all such persons are being done.

The office of the ED which is currently investigating around a dozen money laundering cases is unlikely to reopen at a least a fortnight.

Prior to this a week back; headquarter of Jharkhand Police had witnessed Corona explosion when 24 police personnel posted at the police headquarter were tested positive. Among the affected are two reader rank staff and the canteen staff who used to serve tea to DGP MV Rao and other officials. The police headquarters was sealed.

As per the record of Jharkhand Police headquarter; across Jharkhand as many as 477 police personnel have been affected with Covid-19 virus. This includes one SSP and DSP rank official, five inspectors, 41 sub-inspectors, 51 assistant sub-inspector rank officials among others. Among them; 39 officials and personnel have recovered.

Despite the good recovery rate the government is worried over the spread of pandemic.

The workforce and the working hours at the offices have been calibrated so that normal administrative works continue. So far only 30 per cent of the total workforce at the offices is permitted.
