East Central Railway has been ranked second in the half-yearly review of the performance of the Zonal Railways by the Indian Railways, which is a major achievement, ECR’s General Manager Lalit Chandra Trivedi said while addressing the Republic Day function at Hajipur on Tuesday.
By the month of December of the current financial year, East Central Railway has received a total initial income of Rs 11, 100 crore, which is 8.6 percent more than the target. “Despite the lockdown, we have carried 99.56 million tonnes of freight till December of the current financial year. Rs.10, 213 crore has been received from this, which is 36 percent more than the target set. In the current financial year, the average speed of goods trains up to December was 49.50 kmph as compared to 23.29 kmph in the same period last year, which is more than double.
ECR is the first Zonal Rail of Indian Railways to achieve the 100 percent target for this ambitious project by completing the purchase and distribution of the total 1994 GPRS POS Machine under the Digital Payment Project for EFT transactions by ticket checking staff. “In the field of scrap sales, we have reached a record Rs 254 crore so far, surpassing the 230 million given by the Railway Board in 2020-21,” said Trivedi.
ECR celebrated Republic Day with patriotism and joy at its headquarters in Hajipur on Tuesday. Trivedi unfurled the tricolour on the occasion and inspected the parade of members of the Railway Protection Force and Scouts and Guides.
On this occasion, Additional General Manager Ashok Kumar, Principal Chief Personnel Officer JKP Singh, Principal Chief Security Commissioner S.K. Mayank and other officials were present.
Addressing the officers and staff present at the function, Trivedi said that today the whole world is facing the Covid-19 pandemic and the ECR is happy that the corona vaccine has arrived and there is hope that the vaccine will be available to all railway employees soon. “I am proud of our railway men who not only prevented the spread of Covid-19 but also made sure that the wheel of the rail continued to run,” he said.
