The Election Commission of India has sought some clarifications from the returning officer of

Garhwa regarding the report submitted about the Drinking Water and Sanitation and Water

Resource department Minister Mithilesh Thakur.

One RTI activist Sunil Mahto claimed that Mithilesh Thakur, who won the Assembly Election from

Garhwa Assembly seat as the JMM candidate did not disclose that he is a business partner in a

private company. The petitioner said that Mithilesh Thakur deliberately concealed that information

which is a crime under section 9(a) of Representation of People Act.

The ECI on this directed Garhwa DC Ramesh Gholap to file a reply. The DC said that as directed he

had submitted a report to the election commission where facts where explained in details along with

documents.

The DC said that the ECI has received the report and sought some clarifications on certain points.

"The report was sent and some clarifications have been sought. We are conducting a panchayat

election at this time. But very soon the additional report will be sent within the deadline," he said.

The Chief Electoral Officer of Jharkhand K. Ravikumar asserted that the direction of the ECI will be

complied with.

Sunil Mahto alleged that Mithilesh Thakur did not furnish information about his business activity

that he is a partner in a construction company. He said that the minister has misused his power to

get work orders for the company from the government. The company is named Satyam

construction.

Notably, MLA Samri Lal (BJP) from Kanke and Amba Prasad (Congress) from Badkagaon Assembly

segment are also facing troubles related to their election. Mandar MLA Bandhu Tirkey has lost his

membership of House after he was convicted in a DA case recently.
