Apart from adding another feather to Chhattisgarh’s cap with the holding of International Hockey event at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Hockey Stadium in the city, it has brought a bonanza for the street vendors and body painters.
With the number of hockey fans growing up to witness the matches, a stretch of the road between the Government Science College and Pt Ravishakar Shukla University in Raipur has transformed into a massive ‘street market’.
As large crowd turned up to cheer the Indian team on Monday, which was playing against Netherlands while street vendors sold food items and cheering related accessories outside.
The National Flag, wrist bands, funky wicks and other stuffs were on high demand among the spectators.
Similarly, large crowd was also witnessed opting for body paint for cheering men-in-blue.
