Each district in the State will now have a modern and well equipped Mahila Thana having all facilities in it, where cases related to women, children and family matters could be duly dealt with.
These police stations will have only female officers and staff where women can freely lodge complaints. The decision was taken during a meeting of police officials at Project Building in Ranchi chaired by Chief Minister Raghubar Das on strengthening and reforms in police department.
CM maintained that his Government was quite sensitive towards women empowerment and their uplift. “There must be a feeling of service among the police officials and the working should be done in such a way that even a common man can converse with them without any fear,” said Das.
In the first phase, 16 police stations in Ranchi, 17 in Jamshedpur along with some important police stations in Dhanbad will be strengthened. There will also be a provision to give award to the cleanest police station. Condemned vehicles lying in the police stations will also be auctioned according to the provisions under the law.
The meeting was also attended by Chief Secretary Rajiv Gauba, Principal Secretary to CM Sanjay Kumar, Principal Secretary (Home) NN Pandey, DGP DK Pandey and ADG (Operations) SN Pradhan and other senior officials.
