DVC to reduce fuel consumption

Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) is on move to achieve greater power generation even after reducing the fuel consumption.

“DVC is committed to producing more power by consuming less fuel in the forthcoming days.

The management has been given proper and necessary guidance to all its fuel officials," said BM Sah, Executive Director (Fuel) of DVC. Without the reduction in fuel consumption, the electricity generation has become a daunting task in DVC, in any situation, it has to be cut down, he added.

Sah assumed the post of Executive Director, Fuel, at DVC Calcutta Headquarters recently.

He said that instructions have been given to discuss with the concerned officials for reducing coal and oil consumption for generating power; "in order to protect the environment, it is very important to cut fuel consumptions at plants," added Sah.

Necessary instructions and guidelines have been issued to the chief engineer of all the DVC's power units including Durgapur Thermal Power Plant, Mejia Thermal Power Plant, Chandrapura Thermal Power Plant, Bokaro Thermal Power Plant.

Though DVC is a very important institution for producing energy and keeping it safe and secure is everyone's duty.

We are committed for working according to the government's guidance and we are on move.

In order to make the country self-efficient in power production, “DVC will prove to be a milestone in future," added Sah.

Presently, DVC is producing 3052 MW power from its Thermal power units and 38 MW from its Hydel units across the country, said an official.
