Dubey stakes claim to ticket for son in Bishrampur

Firstly shown door from the party for his utterances and now on a return trail, former Congress MlA and senior leader Chandrashekhar Dubey is not ready to mould his style of politics.

The firebrand leader who was representing Bishrampur constituency before resigning to contest for lok Sabha as Trinamool Congress’ candidates has openly claimed Congress ticket for his son Ajay Dubey.

Terming his son as his natural heir for the seat which he presented for long Dubey expressed confidence that the party would field him as his replacement. “I am pretty sure that the Congress would give ticket for Assembly polls to my son from Bishrampur. My son would be the Congress’s candidate from the constituency,” said he on Sunday in an interaction with the media.

Dubey after leaving the Congress ahead of lok Sabha polls had fought unsuccessfully from Dhanbad on TMC ticket. Though post defeat, he announced to retire from active politics but last month again approached Congress president Sonia Gandhi for a reentry. He is said to have got approval from Central level but a formal announcement is yet to be made from the party at any level.

Nevertheless his fighting the Assembly polls due at the end of this year is highly unlikely; Dubey is in the process of paving way for his son. However his party has distanced itself from his claims. “We are far from finalising tickets for the elections. It has to be approved from Delhi. In all this, it is uncalled for that anyone announces ticket for anyone unilaterally,” said a senior party functionary of the JPCC.

Relation of Dubey with most of the Congress senior leaders in Jharkhand has not been smooth and his preempting step can go against him as well. He also claimed himself as president of INTUC and announced removal of ClP leader Rajendra Singh as general secretary of the Congress’ trade union. “He is banking upon his support base in the constituency and looking to exert pressure on the party,” added the leader.
