Bangalore-based Door To Door Service (DTDS) Travel and Tour Planner, which at present operates a flight from Jamshedpur to Kolkata is all set to start its flight to Patna from April 2. This would be the second connecting city after Kolkata which the operators started last year. DTDS along with Spirit Air will start the new service
As per the plans the flight twice a week,Tuesday and Thursday will be scheduled as Jamshedpur-Patna-Purnea-Patna and Jamshedpur.
On Tuesdays and Thursdays, the flight from Jamshedpur will take off at 8:40 am and will reach Patna at 10:10 am. The flight from Patna to Purnea will take off at 10:30 am and will reach Purnea by 11:30 am. The flight will again depart from Purnea at 11:55 am and will reach Patna at 12:55 pm. Finally the flight from Patna will depart at 1:20 pm and will reach Jamshedpur by 2:50 pm.
DTDS will use the same nine seater Cessna aircraft for the Jamshepdur-Patna-Purnea sectors. The flight fare is Rs 1999 per person from Jamshedpur to Patna. The fare will double to Rs 3998 in case a person travels from Jamshedpur to Purnea.
Bharat Vasani, secretary, Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry, claimed that the people of the city will be immensely benefitted with air service and will also result in the city embarking on a renewed phase of growth.
Jamshedpur debuted on the country’s air map in 2007 with Air Deccan linking the city to Calcutta, but the service ended soon. Then, MDlR Kingfisher resumed connectivity in 2009, but only for a few months. On August 17, 2010, Deccan Charters hired a turboprop 19-seater aircraft but services ended in February 2011. On January 30, DTDS in association with Spirit Air started its nine seater flight for Jamshedpur-Kolkata. This was the second air service for Kolkata. Northeast Shuttles services started in February, however stopped its flight services from the city in August this year.
When contacted, Shyamal Chakraborty, manager, sales of DTDS said that Bihar is abuzz with activities and Patna has emerged as new destination for business growth. People from Patna want to get connected with the Steel City too.
