Drug controller contradicts laboratories' findings

Published on:

Even as the Drug Testing laboratory claims that half of the drug samples collected over a period of one year is spurious, the Drug Controller has taken a different stand on the issue.

According to Namkum Testing laboratory Director Satyendra Kumar Singh around 600 medicine samples were collected from all across the State in past one year and after testing the samples it was found that half of them are either duplicate or of substandard quality. He said, “I have sent the report to the concerned officials and has asked them to look into the matter seriously and take concrete action in this direction as it will adversely affect the health of people.”

However, Drug Controller Anjani Kumar denied of having any such report from the testing laboratory which state that half of the drugs are duplicate. He said, “In the report it is mentioned that some of the medicines are of substandard quality but nowhere it is mentioned that any medicine is of duplicate quality.”

He further added that such type of statement from Satyendra was pathetic and he should stop it.  According to Kumar such statements from Satyendra is a reaction against the Government for not paying him the salary on time. Meanwhile, Kumar also stated that action will be taken against those companies samples are categorized under substandard quality. He said, “letters have been sent to the concerned companies demanding an answer over the report. Once we receive the feedback further action will be taken against them.”

Meanwhile, he also informed that the Government has called a meeting on December 28 in which all the defaulter blood banks will have to present a report stating what action they have taken so far and what their future plans are in setting a proper blank bank in the city.
