Scant drizzle in scattered areas of the State in the morning and evening hours today not only brought smiles on faces but also resulted in lowering of the temperature to about two degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature of Ranchi in the evening was about 32 degrees said weather experts.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) office in Ranchi also affirmed that the weather may not get harsher in the coming days due to atmospheric activities. “There are chances of relief as a weak system has developed from East Bihar to North Odisha. That is why the weather is cloudy. Although the system is less likely to bring rains but it will keep the weather cloudy so the temperature is may not rise more,” said Forecast officer of IMD Ranchi, Upendra Srivastava

The Meteorological Department had earlier issued a warning that ruthless heat wave conditions to persist for another one week. It had said that people will hardly get relief from the scorching heat till May 2. The weather bulletin released by Ranchi observatory centre of the IMD on Tuesday had predicted an average rise of two degree Celsius in temperature across the state and ruled out possibility of rainfall in Ranchi and adjoining areas till May 2.

Most parts of the State are witnessing heat wave like condition as temperature is five degrees above the normal on an average in the month of April.

“This year even the norwester did not become active including El-Nino and westerly wind was also influenced due to various factors, which are other reasons that are influencing the present condition and are responsible for the spooling heat,” added Srivastava.

Considering the weather condition, the State Government has already taken precautionary measures and has ordered to suspend all classes of students till class VIII. Timings of class IX to XII have also been changed.  The changed school timing for class 9 to 12 have been fixed till 11:30 am.

Severe rise in temperature has also triggered a water crisis problem across the state including the State capital as the ground water level has been severely affected making the public to make some alternate arrangement to combat the situation for the time being as most of the localities has been declared as dry zones.
