A light rainfall brought some respite to the denizens from the blistering heat on Friday. However, Ranchi MET centre experts have stated that this is merely a temporary relief as the mercury level is expected to rise more in the days to come. According to MET experts, due to less moisture content and westerly wind flow the mercury level will rise above the normal conditions.

Gusty wind with the speed 40-50 Km per hour has hit maximum districts including some isolated areas on Friday. “For the next two-three days, the mercury level will remain restrained ranging from 35 degree Celsius to 38 degree Celsius. Drizzle will cover southern Jharkhand primarily at a regular interval. After few days the temperature level will increase further and may again fall in the range of 40 degree Celsius or even above,” said, MET Ranchi Centre, Forecast Officer, Dattu Hedau.

The State Capital on Friday registered 40.5 degree Celsius with 7.2 mm rainfall while Daltonganj and Chaibasa recorded 43.2 degree Celsius and 42.8 degree Celsius respectively. Jamshedpur recorded 36.8 degree Celsius with 93.4 mm rainfall and Bokaro registered 40.1 degree Celsius. Mercury level dipped down on Friday due to light rainfall at different places across the State.

“Due to the sudden increase in the moisture content, more than 50 per cent of the State on Friday experienced light rainfall. light rainfall mainly occurred in southern parts of Jharkhand which includes East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, Seraikela Kharsawan, Hazaribagh, Ramgarh, Khunti, Koderma and Giridih,” said Hedau.

“Dry weather condition, minimum moisture content, southern westerly wind flow will again increase the temperature level.

“The temperature level will drastically influence Ranchi while covering central Jharkhand and north-west Jharkhand predominately. At southern and north-eastern parts of State, the moisture content will remain subtle bringing light rains at times,” added the Forecast Officer. Since long the temperature persisted in the range 40 degree Celsius to 44 degree Celsius. Breaking the record of 17 years, Ranchi on May 15 recorded 43.2 degree Celsius.
