Health department Principal Secretary, Nitin Madan Kulkarni said, “The man made the call at toll free number 1950 stating that he received a call from Mumbai where his corona test was conducted that he is corona positive. The team of health department officials and police on receiving the call reached the man’s house and later took him to Covid 19 centre at RIMS.”

Meanwhile, for the second consecutive day Ranchi did not report any Covid-19 case on Friday. On Friday 957 samples were tested at four government Covid testing labs and private labs but all the cases were found to be negative.

The decline in positive case especially from Hindpiri the hotspot of coronavirus is great relief for the State government. On Thursday too, no positive case was detected from Hindpiri area. On Thursday five new positive cases were detected in Palamu district. The five cases which were detected from Palamu had a travel history. According to health department, 21 labourers who were put on quarantine had escaped from Chhattisgarh and later five of them were found to be corona positive.

According to daily health bulletin of health department, the total cases in State are 132, out of which the active cases number is 77.

Also, 57 patients have recovered and discharged from the disease, while death figure is three.  In State Capital out of 93 corona cases, the active case is 61, 30 persons have recovered from disease while two persons both from Hindpiri area died while battling the disease.

The other positive aspect is number of districts, which are free from corona, too has increased. Bokaro, Hazaribag, Dhanbad, Giridih, Simdega and Koderma are some districts which are now corona free. Ranchi, which is the worst-affected district in Jharkhand, has reported more than 70 per cent of the Covid-19 cases in State, officials said.

Also, majority of patients affected with the virus are youngsters or middle aged. As many as 60 of the 132 cases in Jharkhand are in the age bracket of 11 to 30 years and 42 are in the age bracket of 31 to 50 years, the NHM report said. At least nine children, below the age of 10 years, have been infected by the virus in Jharkhand so far, the report said.
